Care guide / 01
Object Care
Designed to be worn. Crafted to evolve.
01 / Wear
Wear your object often.
To preserve its original finish, avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, sunscreen, cleaning products, and other chemicals.
Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, sleeping, or using a sauna. Avoid unnecessary impact, pressure, and abrasion.
01 / Wear — Form
Handle the form.
Ear cuffs
Place the cuff over the narrowest part of the upper ear, then guide it gently into its intended position. Remove it by reversing the movement without pulling the opening apart.
If a small adjustment is required during the first fitting, make it once, gradually and with minimal pressure. Once the fit is established, do not open and close the cuff with every wear. Repeated bending can weaken the metal, affect the finish and alter the original form.
Earring posts and backs
Attach and remove earring backs with a slow, straight movement. Do not twist the post or use excessive pressure. Repeated bending can weaken fine components over time.
When travelling, return earrings to their box. Do not carry them loose inside a pocket or bag.
Linked forms
Remove necklaces before pulling close-fitting clothing over the head. Take care around collars, buttons, hair and bag straps that may catch between links.
Never pull an object by a single link or connection point. Protect linked forms from sudden tension, compression and impact.
02 / Store
Store each object in a dry place.
When it is not being worn, keep your jewelry inside its original Nowar Studio box.
Store pieces separately whenever possible to reduce scratches and limit exposure to humidity.
03 / Materials
Care by Material
925 Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally reacts with air, humidity, cosmetics and the individual chemistry of the skin. Darkening and oxidation are normal characteristics of the material and do not affect its quality.
For fingerprints or light surface marks, wipe gently with a clean, soft cloth. For visible tarnish, use a polishing cloth made specifically for sterling silver. Store the object dry and separate from other pieces.
Silver polishing cloths are intended for unplated sterling silver only. Do not use them on gold vermeil, pearls or enamel.
Gold Vermeil
Nowar Studio vermeil is a substantial layer of 18-karat gold applied over solid 925 sterling silver. Its surface will gradually evolve through contact, friction and everyday wear.
Put your jewelry on after perfume, skincare and cosmetics have been absorbed. Remove it before showering, swimming, exercising, sleeping or using household cleaning products.
After wearing, wipe the surface gently with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use silver polishing cloths, abrasive products, chemical dips or ultrasonic cleaning on vermeil.
Pearls
Pearls are organic gemstones and require extra care. Avoid perfumes and cosmetics, wipe gently after wearing with a barely damp soft cloth, dry immediately and store separately.
Do not soak pearls or use silver polish, chemical cleaners or ultrasonic cleaning on them.
Natural variations in colour, shape, surface and lustre make every pearl unique.
Enamel
Enamel is durable but should be protected from impacts. Avoid dropping the object or striking it against hard surfaces.
Clean with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not soak or use abrasive cleaners, silver polish or ultrasonic cleaning on enamel.
04 / Clean
A gentle ritual.
01
Polishing Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a patina over time. This is a normal characteristic of the material and can easily be refreshed with gentle polishing.
02
Deeper Cleaning for Solid Sterling Silver
Use this method only for solid sterling silver objects without pearls, enamel or vermeil. Wash with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild soap, rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.
